What the Role Involves
OYEA works across three connected areas: spaces and programmes for young people, support for the adults who work with them, and direct opportunities for youth leadership and civic participation.
The Fellow contributes across these areas rather than staying fixed on a single project. Work includes seasonal and rotating initiatives that strengthen youth voice and connect young people with resources.
Core responsibilities include:
- Coordinating rotating and seasonal projects from planning through implementation and follow-up
- Tracking timelines, deliverables, documentation and shared resources
- Maintaining organised project files
- Building and managing relationships with city agencies, schools, community organisations and youth-serving partners
- Supporting youth outreach, focus groups, listening sessions, city-wide events and community meetings
- Handling logistics such as purchasing, space reservations and event support
- Tracking project budgets, invoices and procurement in coordination with OYEA staff
- Helping connect non-English speakers with translation and language services
- Demonstrating professionalism and accountability with young people, partners and colleagues
- Participating in staff meetings, training and professional development
The role requires comfort with both big-picture coordination and day-to-day administrative details.
Who Should Apply
This position suits organised, proactive professionals who want practical experience in public service and youth development.
Minimum and preferred qualifications:
- At least two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in project coordination, youth programmes, community engagement, public service, administration, civic engagement, event coordination or related work
